Licence Disc Renewals
About This Service
Cathy's renews motor vehicle licence discs so you don't need to queue at the licensing department. Personal vehicles renew annually; buses and vans may renew every 6 months. The expiry date appears in bold on the licence disc. Renewal must be done within 21 days of expiry; arrears and penalties apply after delays.
Note: Your disc may be blocked if you have other unlicensed vehicles or unpaid traffic fines in your name. We can assist with these too.
Documents Required
- Copy of previous licence disc renewal page (showing tare and expiry date)
- Owner ID copy
- Proof of address (Johannesburg, Mogale City or City of Tshwane)
- Affidavit if utility bill is not in owner's name
- Ward councillor letter for informal settlements
- Completed ALV application form
- Roadworthy certificate (public transport/heavy vehicles)
- Signed affidavit completed in person at our offices
